Tapestry:
Tapestry is a wonderful online learning platform we first started using in EYFS from September 2020. We encourage you to join it so you can gain insights regarding your child’s endeavours in the classroom.
Relating to Tapestry membership, a personal email will be sent, enabling you to access their online space. The program also enables you to comment and contribute to your child's progress: something we really value. This is an excellent way to see what we are learning about in Reception, as well as to stay connected (if you wish to).
If you have any queries or comments, please speak to me.
Reception:
Reception is part of our Early Years Foundation Stage. As an experienced team, we fully recognise that different approaches may be required for individual children - when it comes to the learning process. Our objective is to give each child a secure foundation for learning, both in the present and in the future.
The Aims of Reception:
. Provide a well-planned and resourced curriculum
. Meet the emotional and educational needs of each child
. Help children to learn and provide opportunities for all children to succeed
. Encourage each child to become independent
How we learn in Reception:
Our curriculum covers seven areas of learning as follows:
. Personal, Social and Emotional Development
. Communication and Language Development
. Physical Development
. Literacy
. Mathematics
. Understanding of the World
. Expressive Arts and Design
These seven areas of learning are topic and play–based, with the aim of inspiring a child to develop a love of learning. In this connection, challenges are set up to encourage our children to think for themselves. Also, there are adult-led activities, again linked to topic and learning.
