Literacy

In Nursery we are learning to listen to and join in with stories, poems and songs. We talk about lots of different stories, characters and settings. There are lots of books in the nursery and we can sit and read independently whenever we like in our book corner which has comfy cushions. We are learning to hold books the correct way, turn the pages and know that books give us information. Through reading and exploring lots of stories we learn lots of new words and sounds. With practice we learn to recognise our own names. We also do lots of mark making in nursery using lots of different resources. We are encouraged to talk about the marks that we make when we draw, write or paint.
