Our Reception Curriculum Map

Reception:

Reception is part of Early Years Foundation Stage.  As a team we recognise and understand that each child learns differently and they are all on their own learning journey.

Our objective is to give the children secure foundation for later learning building on from what they already know.

The Aims of Reception:

. Provide a well-planned and resourced curriculum

. Meet the emotional and educational needs of each child

. Help children to learn and provide opportunities for all children to succeed

. Encourage each child to become independent

How we learn in Reception:

Our curriculum covers seven areas of learning as follows:

. Personal, Social and Emotional Development

. Communication and Language Development

. Physical Development

. Literacy

. Mathematics

. Understanding of the World

. Expressive Arts and Design

These seven areas of learning are play – based this is to inspire children to develop a love of learning, challenges are set up linked to our topic and learning to encourage the children to think and learn for themselves, becoming masters of their own learning. Also, there are adult led activities again linked to topic and learning.

Learning also takes place as whole class sessions, which are well planned and based on around the seven areas of learning.  All sessions are bought alive so they are fun and engaging.

Tapestry:

Tapestry is the fantastic online learning platform we have started using in EYFS from September 2020. We encourage you to join so we can celebrate your child's learning journey through Reception.

I will upload content to their own secure space, which can then be viewed at by your family at home.  When your child begins Reception, a personal email will be sent to enable you to access their online space.  Tapestry also enables you to comment and contribute to your child's online learning journey, something we really value. It really is a lovely way for you to see what we are learning about in Reception and to stay connected to any messages or key information.

If you have any queries or comments, please speak to me.
