Maths
The children’s focus for the whole year will be to have a deep understanding of numbers to 10. This will include ordering numbers and finding one more and one less and understanding the composition of each number. Children will explore number bonds to 5 and some to 10 including double and subtraction facts as well as subitising to 5.
We will be supporting the children to recognise patterns in the counting system, including verbally counting beyond 20, double facts, odds and evens, how to compare quantities and how to share them equally.
The children will use everyday language to talk about length, weight, capacity, position, time and money to compare quantities and objects and to solve problems. They will be supported to recognise, create and describe patterns. They will explore characteristics of everyday objects and shapes and use mathematical language to describe them.
