What an amazing start to the Autumn term the children have had. They have transitioned well into Year 1 from reception, having the opportunity to access a range of activities, as they did in reception. The classroom environment is set up to ensure the children are learning through play, covering the seven areas of the EYFS Curriculum:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Communication and Language Development
- Physical Development
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding of the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
As we have come nearer to the end of the term, the children have shown great enthusiasm to now transition to learning at tables, starting with Handwriting for Early Morning Work. Last term we learnt all about our school community and what makes up a family community. In addition, we learnt about different job roles in the local community, exploring the skills of each job. In Term 2 we have been investigating all things shiny and sparkly. We have been focusing on celebrations and traditions from around the world, during the autumn and winter months. We have learnt about Diwali, Halloween, Chanukah and Christmas and the common theme of festival lights, these celebrations have in common.
